Promoting with Creative Marketing
IMAN Cosmetics was looking to bring a new lipstick sealant to market and required the design of a special combo promotion by taking the best eight Iman shades and packaging them each with their new lipstick sealant.
To increase retail presence IMAN wanted to a creative self-merchandising display. They gave this project to Kris Meister due to his history of working within a company's brand and designing creative high-impact visual retail displays. Kris was given artistic control over both the package and the self-merchandiser display.
The Merchandising Display
Kris developed a theme using lips and a photo of the product. He cropped a models face and mono-toned her skin so that the only strong feature were her lips and set her on a background designed to stand out from the traditional cosmetic colors. The colors entice customers to the display and image was a visual clue as to the purpose the product.
Creative Packaging
Expand on the Brand
Given the IMAN lipstick as model Kris Meister expanded to include more non-verbal hints. The customer had to realize that this wasn't just a lipstick but a lipstick and a sealant in the same box. Kris carried the lips theme from the display to the box again to act as a visual clue for the customer. The perfect lipstick print induced the customer to believe she could have perfect lips with the IMAN's new lipstick sealant.

This IMAN promotion ended up being one of the most successful merchandising displays in the companies history. It strengthened the brand, increased customer knowledge of the new lipstick sealant. It was another example how understand the customer and creative design are often the most effect marketing tools.
